Annie Lennox of the band The Eurythmics is seen here on a 1983 Rolling Stone cover right after the release of the band's hugely successful album Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). Lennox invented her own unique blend of soul, pop and new wave in both her music and visual styling. Her sexuality on stage wavered between sultry and fey femme fatale to cross-dressing Elvis impersonator. Her hair was often seen in a buzz cut similar to the post-punk styles in vogue in the 1980's worn by both men and women alike.
