Tantric yoga is an ancient Hindu and Buddhist sect which stresses the union of the male god Shiva and the female god Shakti into cosmic oneness, a reunification of two halves that were separated at the creation of the universe. Tantric practices involve breathing and chanting exercises as well as prolonged sexual intercourse. Tantric symbology includes the seven chakra, or energy centers in the body which symbolize the progression of the coiled serpent kundalini, a symbol for the goddess Shakti rising through all other energy centers to join the god Shiva at the crown chakra, located at the top of the head.
